Can't you see that smoking is bad for you?

Inside A Colonial Church

I traveled to Mexico in mid-May to accompany my mother to see her family. I spent four days in a small town and had the opportunity to take many photographs. This particular photograph is of the interior of the local church, which dates from Spanish colonial rule. On this particular morning, there were few people, which tended to be the case in midweek.

Buyer's Remorse

I recently got my hands on the Canon Speedlite 430EX and the Tokina 28-70mm f/2.8 lens.  So since Friday, I have been taking pictures to test the new equipment.  Frankly I think I am going to be okay with the Tokina because it's small and light.  On the other hand, I was surprised that the flash is just about as big as the camera (a Canon Rebel K2 film SLR).  While it seems to work very well and I am playing around to test it and see what it has to offer, I am just not "feeling" it.  Add to that, I have a bad case of buyer's remorse.  As soon as I left the camera shop in Westwood, I was thinking "what did I do?"  So if I cannot get used to it, I will have to return it.  Lucky for me, I have at least a full week to play with it and learn how to use it.  Thus far, I have used the flash with the Tokina and the Tamron 75-300 mm lens.  It will next be used with my 50 mm f/1.8 lens.  Hopefully I will have a chance to do that tomorrow.  I will take pictures of my parents in the morning when they come back from church.  Maybe tomorrow I will have some film processed showing what I have done with the flash.  So maybe later in the week I will post something.

With that . . . Happy Easter to all my Christian friends and family and Happy Passover (however late) to my Jewish friends.

Looking Up

It has been a while since I have posted an image.  Since then, I bought the Epson Perfection 4490 and have started searching for a flash for my Canon film camera.

Anyway, I have something new to post.  It was taken at the back entrance to Union Station in Downtown Los Angeles.

Flu v. The Camera

I have had a minor cold that I have been recovering from for a while.  So today I seemed fine.  Except for tonight, when a cold gave way to a very bad bout with the flu.  I had plans to get out and photograph around town, particularly the old neighborhood where I lived the first five years of my life.  If there is a remote chance that I could feel better tomorrow morning, I am going shooting.

Lately, it has been a battle between my health and the camera.  I want to shoot, but I have been too sick to get out and shoot.  Instead, the camera has been at home the last two weeks waiting to be used.  So tonight, I hope the Tylenol, Advil, and NightQuil will work wonders for me because I am in pain.
